Gandhi Jayanti

A national holiday in India to celebrate the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the activist who employed nonviolent resistance to lead the successful campaign for India's independence. The United Nations also celebrates this day as the International Day of Non-Violence.
Nigeria Cultural Parade & Festival
  • Time: 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
  • Location: 1400 Clay St. Houston, TX 77002
The Nigeria Cultural Parade & Festival in honor of Nigerian Independence is the largest West African celebration to hit the streets in Downtown Houston. Spectators will enjoy the most cultural exports of Nigeria.

Sharada Navaratri
  • Time: 12:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.
  • Location: Local
A Hindu festival that spans nine nights and ten days. It is a major post-monsoon autumn cultural event that is the most observed in the honor of the divine feminine goddess Durga.

Indigenous Peoples' Day
  • Location: United States of America
Occurring on the 2nd Monday in October, this holiday celebrates and honors Native Americans as well as commemorates their histories and cultures.

UH at Sugar Land Career Fair
  • Time: 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
  • Location: UH at Sugar Land
The UH at Sugar Land Career Fair is a collaboration between University Career Services, the UH at Sugar Land instructional site and Fort Bend County. This event is an opportunity for local companies to recruit UH students and alumni for open roles. This event is open to all majors but is targeted to majors and colleges at the UH at Sugar Land instructional site.

Multicultural Fest Dia de los Muertos
  • Time: 11:30 a.m. - 11:45 p.m.
  • Location: Arab American Cultural Community 10555 Stancliff Road Houston, TX 77099
Different cultures will participate in the beautiful and traditional competition of altars of the dead, parade of catrinas, dances and live music, handicrafts, exhibition of products and services. They will also be able to taste delicious dishes, rich gastronomy from different countries. We will also be distributing sweets and presents to the first children who arrive at the festival.
